Flap Collar

Flap collar nest full of eggs
Next up from the 'Stof voor durf-het-zelvers' book I tried the flap collar.
It's your lucky day, 2 blog posts in a row where you get two dresses for the price of one! I had planned to sew up only one, but somehow it turned into two. The second one is without the flap collar.

Both dresses look great - love the fabric. Having a solid background helps feature the flap collar.
You have more folds in the collar than the one I did, so the thinner fabric you used must be better suited to enable the collar to sit flat.

Now that I've made my first flap collar I'd like to try doing it differently, fold it differently, try the smaller size, etc... but yes, thinner fabric would be the way to go.
What an interesting design element Rachel! Its beautiful. This book looks good!

Thanks Justine, I highly recommend the book. Even though I don't know a word of Dutch, there are really good step by step photos and thankfully there is Google translate :)
love that flap collar!
I so want to make this dress! Your version is gorgeous. Love it!
Unique design, beautiful fabric choice! Your executions are always beautiful!
Such an artistic design!

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your lovely comment :)
It's like origami for clothes...how fun! Love the look!
The collar is really neat! Having the solid color under it really highlights the unique collar. What other patterns are in the book?
What a great detail...I've never seen anything like that collar!--I wonder how it would work in a cotton lawn--more like a scarf maybe? but then again that may defeat the whole purpose of the folds:)
That's a really great collar! -liZ
This collar is great!
I have a weakness for large and beautiful collars - I really think they can make a piece rather unique :)
